Rincón antigüeño, also known as Rincón Tipico, holds a special place as our favourite lunch spot in Antigua, Guatemala. During our time there, we found ourselves visiting this delightful establishment on a daily basis. Renowned for its high-quality traditional Guatemalan stews and BBQ, it offers a truly authentic dining experience. The menu del dia (daily special) and the almuerzo de pollo a la lena (grilled chicken) stand out as popular choices among patrons.

One of the highlights here was the pepian de pollo, a flavourful dish of succulent chicken in a rich sauce of tomatoes, chiles, pumpkin seeds, onion, anchiote, and cinnamon, often compared to Mexican mole. Czarina’s personal favorite was the roasted chicken, served with a side of salad and potatoes.

The daily specials, which start at 11 am, tend to sell out quickly, often being unavailable after 1 pm. The rotating selection of daily specials includes mouthwatering options like pepian, pulique, jocon, caldo, hilachas, and carne guisada.
